EMPATHIZE
Get to know my users better
Primary research
-
Interviews with friends and family members
During these interviews, I used open-ended questions to gather information from potential users, for example: "What do you know about chronic illness?" "Have you ever experienced a chronic illness and how did you identify and improve it?" "What are your health care patterns like?"
The aim is to understand the real needs of the user and how to address those needs with my products.
-
Expert interviews with Uni Siegen
Through a referral from my professor, I had the pleasure of meeting two colleagues from Uni Siegen, Rebecca and Alarith. During my conversation with Rebecca, I learned about her experience with the Do2go project, user behavior, and the online healthcare model. And my discussion with Alarith was more about the feasibility of the project and the challenges of software as a service.
Here is a link to the video recording of those interviews
Secondary research
-
Bundesministerium für Gesundheit
In the meantime I found information from the "Bundesministerium für Gesundheit". In the German region, type 2 diabetes, partial cancer and heart problems - all of these diseases can be fought if they are detected early. During the medical examination, health risks and pre-existing conditions should be assessed, and diseases should be detected and combated as early as possible.
-
Frequency and manner of medical examinations
source:
The hidden pain points
-
A tedious medical examination process with long intervals.
-
The habit of thinking that you only go for check-ups when something is wrong with your body.
-
Passive, traditional medical model leads to missing the best time for detection
Persona
To identifying common pain points
Based on my user research, I have created the representative character "Stannis"
User story
As a sales manager, I don't have much free time and I want to easily check some of my body indicators and create a visual profile so that I can identify and treat chronic diseases in time.
User journey map
Persona: Stannis
Goal: Easy checking of body indicators and creation of a database.
DEFINE
Define design direction and user needs
Problem statement
Stannis is a sales manager, who needs an easy App to record his health data, because he didn't have the time or energy to do traditional body check-up.
Hypothesis statements
If Stannis uploads health information to the Nora app, then they can choose which information they can share with professionals. (on user information protection and privacy)
Value proposition
IDEATE
Why the first version of Nora app was defined as a computer-based app and not a mobile one?
Considering the condition that the app needs to work with the physical product and the technical support issues, the first version of Nora was defined as a computer-based user interface and the mobile version was designed based on user feedback.
